College Communications and Announcements fpr Tutor / Coaches

We have added a couple of resources to the Helix section of the online learning home page.  Can I please ask you to take a moment to look at where they can be found and also have a look at the documents themselves.

The first document is a 4 page overview of Helix.  This is the document:  https://drive.google.com/file/d/11R_1TgFtWl5Z0UMnCSlYkL5BJYDm65BW/view?usp=sharing.

The second document is an aid to the business plan guide.  It has a series of tasks and actions that will support students setting up their business.  It has a timeline at the back which is helpful for students.   Here is the document:  https://drive.google.com/file/d/1U8i2fVMWuYH4jbLGawTWhuEgCVkDwrpl/view?usp=sharing.

There is also a version for any students that sign up for the guarantee, but that won’t be uploaded or made publicly available.  If you are assigned one of the'guarantee' students we will provide you with that version and discuss how to work with it.

To find these go to online learning home page and select the Helix tile.

Following on from my email on 11th June and the various conversations we've been having please be aware that the comms regarding the case study assessment changes will be starting from this week.

I have attached the comms plan to this email so you can see exactly what is being sent to your students and when.

I have also attached the coach and student guide to the role play again for ease.*  The student guide is also uploaded within the workshop and both guides are uploaded in the coach resource center in online learning.  You'll see there is an FAQ within the comms plan.

We are directing students who haven't yet paid for their assessment to you as well as the support team if they have any questions so, please make sure you are fully informed.  And any questions please let me know.

This is a key change so please respond to confirm you have read and understand this email.

The coach and student guide were emailed, they can also be found in the case study module in the coach resource centre

Hi Everyone

I know you have all now completed the Risk workshop now - thank you for making time to attend / watch this.  I've heard back from many of you to say how valuable and important this workshop is, and we're really very proud to add this to our clinical excellence pathway learning for our students.

Big shout out to Krissie for designing and delivering outstanding content and big shout out to Sue for her acting and support on this in the background.

Next steps

We will be making this workshop mandatory learning as part of the Diploma Programme.

The intention will be to add the workshop to every student's library in online learning once they pay for their assessment.  They will be required to complete the workshop before they attend the pre-planning session with you for their case studies.  As part of that first pre-planning session we would like to ask you to engage in a role play with them, based on the mild case in the workshop - Alison.  This will give every student the opportunity to have a real go at applying the CALMER approach and exploring how to ask questions in this situation.

Sue has created a guide sheet for both you and the students to prepare for the role play.  As a time guide, 10 - 12 mins is adequate for the actual role play with a discussion following that.  To allow for this we are adding an additional 30 mins supervision for every student.  From the point this becomes mandatory the supervision allowance will be:

Level 4 - 3 hours

Level 5 - 4.5 hours

We haven't set a firm date yet for this to become mandatory, we are aiming for September 1st.  Once I have that date confirmed we will start sending out comms to all our students and provide you with necessary updates.

If your students have already paid for and started their case studies before the date it becomes mandatory, they will have the workshop added to their library, but the role play will not be a mandatory element although we would encourage them to explore this with you.

Any questions please let me know.  And please confirm you have read this and are prepared for the change.
