Risk awareness and risk management are an essential part of therapy work.  Risk issues are COMMON. And as mental health professionals we have a duty of care to people who have sought our help, to respond in a helpful way. 

As a cognitive behavioural hypnotherapist where the Diploma is your main training your sphere of competence will mean that you won’t be working with high-risk individuals.  However, no matter how carefully you select clients, risk issues can arise with any client at any time.  And after qualification, as you gain more experience and engage in further training, your work may involve working with higher risk individuals over time.

At the College we want to make sure your training is of an exceptionally high standard and extremely rigorous.  For this reason, we worked with Dr Krissie Ivings to create a 1 day Risk Awareness & Risk Management workshop.  This workshop is available as an online digital workshop and will be run as a livestream webcast workshop at various points thoughout the year.

Completing this workshop will soon become mandatory for all students who complete the assessment for the Diploma at both Level 4 & Level 5.  From September 1^st 2025, once you pay for your assessment, the workshop will be added to your online learning library.  You will be required to complete the workshop before starting your case studies, part of this requirement will be to complete a role play with your supervisor, focused on risk.

Until 1^stSeptember 2025 the workshop will be optional for all students.  If you are a student within their initial 12 months of commencing the Diploma course, or a current subscribing member of the professional membership hub, the digital online learning workshop will be added to your library, free of charge on request.  If you aren’t a current student or member of the hub you can complete the workshop for a small fee.

Please talk to your coach / supervisor if you are planning on paying for your assessment after September 1^st.

New requirements after September 1^st 2025

• Students will be required to watch and complete all learning in the online learning workshop: Risk Awareness & Risk Management before starting case studies
• Students will be required to complete a role play with their supervisor as part of the first ‘pre-planning’ supervision session
• Supervision hours: 
  • Level 4 - 3 hours supervision
  • Level 5 - 4.5 hours supervision
